Slidin Fast:
Thanks. It will be a good trip, whatever.
Cheers.
never was a jw, but been here a long time.. off on a trip in a week or so, uk to andorra to stay with a friend for 10 days or so (beautiful place) then a week or so wending through france back home.. did the same trip the last couple of years -it was wonderful.
met some lovely people, including an ex-polce woman over coffees and calvados after dinner.. but ... i don't feel so enthusiastic about this trip.
i'll visit the cathar sites and other places.. maybe- just maybe - i've come to the conclusion that these trips are not as much fun if you don't have a companion to share it with..

My friend lives in a small town - La Massana. When I stay with him I step out in the morning for a cigarette and there's a small cafe - espresso (and some mornings a calvados with it) and watch the cable car go up over the main street.
It's a ski place in the winter - in summer it's mountain biking, hiking and that sort of stuff.

Coco: Mais oui! There's a spare seat.
Diana (honey): Yes, of course!Offer still open.
This is a serious offer. I'm taking the car anyway, so no cost for a passenger. No strings.

I leave Newhaven for Dieppe at 2330 23/8/16, return the same route leaving Dieppe 1800 08/0916. Spare seats both ways, AFAIK, no cost.
I'm willing to take a passenger.

Last year, on my meandering trip up France, I picked up a couple of hitch-hikers at Ax Les Thermes. They were heading for Carcassone, I was going to Limoux, so it worked out OK. They had walked the path over the Pyrenees.
Limoux produces exceptionally good sparkling wine. I stayed at a family-run hotel. The daughter was a very good looking girl. I thought she was a university student (19 -21) but she was actually 14, so the conversation took a different turn.
Although France has changed a lot (and not for the better) I do enjoy wandering through small towns and stopping where the mood takes.

Thanks, Simon. The Pyrenees (sp), the mountain air, it is just stunning. The weather is wonderful - however hot it gets the air is clear and dry (a mountain climate).
This is a place I could live - but (as I've come to learn in my travels) you need someone to share it with. It's not the place, it's the experience - and the experience is enhanced by who you're with.
Forgive me, but sometimes I wonder whether some exJWs on this site could benefit from a friendship outside of JWland and a visit to some of these stunning places.

terri o'sullivan was interviewed by croydon radio for a programme called "leap of faith", it was broadcast on sunday.. she does a great job of showing how wacky and weird the jw beliefs and practices are, the interviewer asks perceptive questions, either he was well briefed by terri or he is an ex jw !.
she also gives info.
on her meetup group for xjw's, great fun !.
could someone give me the email address of the contact from the charity commission.....i can't find it anywhere....my husband who is not on this forum but is an ex elder would like to contact him.
.
thanks 😃.
